West Odessa Volunteer Fire Department is certified by the Texas Department of Health as First Responders. When a citizen calls the Odessa Fire Department for any medical reason you will also receive a response from us. The dispatch center uses a new program for providing much needed medical attention to the patient while EMS is enroute. Ths system is Advanced Medical Priority Dispatch by Medical Priority Consultants. When you call you will be asked more questions. These questions are important as it allows us to send only what is needed to provide proper medical care. It will also allow the dispatcher to provide proper medical instructions to you the caller. All callers are asked the following:
What is the exact location of your emergency?
What is the phone number your calling from?
What is the problem? Tell me exactly what happened.
How old is the patient?
Is the patient conscious?
Is the patient breathing?
