Volunteer Fire Fighters
Little know facts about Volunteer Fire Departments:

1. 54% of the United States is protected by Volunteer Fire Departments.

2. Volunteer firefighters give up time with their families and put their lives on the line for FREE.

3.  Volunteer firefighters spend many hours a year training to better their skills.

4.  Volunteer fire departments must repair their own equipment in most cases due to lack of funds.

5.  Volunteer fire departments hold fundraisers to purchase much needed equipment to protect themselves while they are saving a house or a life.

Examples of cost most fire departments incur:

New Firetruck........................$125,000.00
Set of Bunkers.......................$    1,000.00 per firefighter
1 3/4" fire hose......................$          80.00 per 50'
(each line used in house fires has 150')
SCBA (Air Pack)......................$    3,500.00 each
(need 2 for the crew inside and 2 for the backup team outside)
Foam (used in oil field fires..$          50.00 per 5 gallon bucket
           (average 30 gallons per fire)

While most departments don't charge for their services, we do have to ask for money from time to time to continue providing our services.
